Carl Maria von Weber Museum

For an extensive musical walkthrough we can recommend a visit to Dresden-Hosterwitz.

Not far from Pillnitz Castle the Carl Maria von Weber Museum awaits. The composer and his wife discovered this typical vintner’s house on a stroll in the spring of 1818. Here, Weber and his family spent the warmer seasons of the years 1818/19 and 1822 through 1824 and greeted numerous colleagues and friends here. The operas “Der Freischütz,” “Euryanthe,” and “Oberon,” as well as the “Aufforderung zum Tanz” were composed in this house. Notations in the former parlor and study, as well as pictures and written accounts testify to the accomplishments and works of Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden.
